We enjoyed our stay at Motel Lake Mcdonald. It was less expensive than some of the fancier lodges we stayed at and more comfortable. It's true that the toilet handle needed jiggling in order to stop it from running and the sink handle needed to be turned firmly off in order to stop dripping, but the beds were comfortable and the view was great.

The Motel is just okay for the price. You basically pay for the location, as everything else there is super expensive. Rooms are clean but very dated. You dont get internet in the rooms. They do have coffee near the main office. you have to go out to eat. Fortunately, we had a corner room, so it was spacious. The property is gorgeous and very convenient as it is close to the park. For that purpose, this is fantastic.

First things first. No wifi, no TV, no ac. I knew these things when booking and I think it adds to the character of being in the park. You do have to walk to the lodge to access the lake which is only a 3 minute walk. Lovely area to be in and you are right next to the general store. Bathroom was a bit small but totally doable for a guy my size 5'10 225 lbs. If you are bigger it may be a little uncomfortable. The rooms was very clean and a fan was provided. We went when it was 99 degrees and the room was still comfortable with the fan. Overall the experience was wonderful. Played games with the family and read stories at night for entertainment. Reason I gave 4 stars was the price. Thought it was a little high for what we got. Would go there again though.

So I booked lake Macdonald motel, st Mary’s lodge and the glacier park lodge. Of the 3 , I would actually take lake Macdonald motel . 1st it is the cheapest, Gets you into the park , You don’t need to worry about the sun road pass from 7a to 3p The motel , the beds were actually very comfortable, The shower same size and tif the glacier park lodge . The room was clean , that little heater in the room cranked , They had box fan in the room. To me was the only one I didn’t have a problem with the room , parking etc You can Walk to the lodge to get food , Plus a store right behind the motel .

We stayed here for 5 nights. I had read previous reviews and was unsure what to expect once we arrived. We were with a Road Scholar group, and this was the accommodations they selected for the trip. Location: Amazing. About 20 min drive from the West entrance of the park. Logan Pass is about a 30 minute van ride. Short walk to the lodge for restaurant and bar. Even shorter walk to the pebble beach of lake McDonald. I recommend a refreshing swim after a long day of hiking! Camp store is just steps from the motel. Free water fill up. They have snacks, beer, apparel and trail needs. Well stocked store. Rooms: Spacious rooms. CLEAN! Fresh new white bedding. Beds are fine. Bathroom was comical, but we made the best of it. The box fan provided, kept us cool at night for sleeping. We were at the park during a stretch of several 90° days and the fan provided made the rooms comfortable. Wi-Fi: they have Starlink! We had no cell service but we’re able to make calls over wi-fi. Wi-fi service worked perfectly, we were even able to stream shows from our iPad. Overall, to be in the park, and wake up to Mountain and lake views, you can’t beat it. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to stay in the park, just be flexible to the TINY bathroom set up.

Good stay overall and a great location in the park. Coffee and hot water are available all day, but we wish it started at 6am versus 8am. Small bathroom and shower but had great water pressure/hot water. Overall, pretty basic but we knew that coming in and enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are tiny but clean with a bed, desk, chair, folding luggage rack, and a box fan. The toilet ran and ran but tended to stop on its own. Good hot water. Enough space on the floor to unroll a single sleeping bag, too. No elevator up to the room. Ice machine downstairs worked well. No direct access to the water for the lake, but the motel is located right behind the store that has coffee for sale by 7 am. The paved path up to the store had some lumps, but they were marked with white paint. Staff seemed to regard their job as less important than if they worked in the nicer place nearby. I'd stay at the facility again. Key drop available for early AM departures.

This is a motel. Not a hotel. The fortunate thing about this motel, which is the primary reason why we booked it is that there was availability AND it's on the Going to the Sun road inside of Glacier National park so you did not need to get the pass. The bathrooms are small, the shower is smaller then 3ft by 3ft. There is no A/C in the room. There is no tv. There were mosquitos. The wifi works fine in the morning and during the majority of the day until guests arrive from their hikes in the evening then it stops working. If I'm fortunate enough to go to Glacier again I will try to plan over a year in advance to stay at one of the nicer hotels within the park, if not this will be a suitable back up plan.
